Dialogue on War Crimes and Justice: TDC Meets Buenos Aires Legal Community

On April 7, 2025, Oleksandr Slyvchuk, Coordinator of the Spain and Latin America Cooperation Program at the Transatlantic Dialogue Center (TDC), met with representatives of the Buenos Aires Bar Association.

The meeting centered on the ongoing war crimes committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine and the international mechanisms for documenting, investigating, and prosecuting such violations. Particular attention was given to the forced deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia, a matter of grave concern for the international legal community.

The sides exchanged views on the importance of strengthening international cooperation in the field of accountability for war crimes, including potential areas of collaboration between Ukrainian and Argentine institutions. The discussion also explored opportunities for legal and academic partnerships.

This dialogue reflects the growing international engagement on justice-related aspects of the war in Ukraine and reaffirms the role of legal professionals in defending human rights and upholding international humanitarian law.
