On April 1, 2025, as part of the Ukrainian civil society delegation’s visit to Latin America, Oleksandr Slyvchuk, Coordinator of the Spain and Latin America Cooperation Program, met in Buenos Aires with Amador Sánchez Rico, Ambassador of the European Union to Argentina, and Luciana Minassian, Assistant Professor of International Law at the University of Buenos Aires Law School.

The meeting centered on Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine and the broader question of how to achieve a just and lasting peace. The participants reflected on how Russia’s so-called peace initiatives often amounted to ultimatums, and the risks these posed to the principles of international law and sovereignty.
The discussion concluded with a shared understanding that for peace to be truly sustainable, and for the international order to be based on justice and the rule of law, those responsible for war crimes must be held accountable.
