TDC Co-Organizes Parliamentary Breakfast in the German Bundestag

On December 4, 2024, a significant parliamentary breakfast took place in the German Bundestag, organized by the Transatlantic Dialogue Center in collaboration with the Alliance of Ukrainian Organizations and Members of Parliament Roderich Kiesewetter (CDU), Robin Wagener (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen), and Nils Schmid (SPD).

The focus of the event was on the question: “What is at stake for Germany and the EU?” in light of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine.

The experts examined the topic from different perspectives:

Military & Security – Gustav Gressel, PhD

Economics – Prof. Dr. Stefan Kooths

Civil Society – Ljudmyla Melnyk

The experts made a strong case for supporting Ukraine and emphasized the need for robust European cooperation. A Russian victory would have severe consequences for European stability and security.

A key highlight was the policy brief from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, titled “What Does It Cost Not to Support Ukraine?” which outlines the economic risks of insufficient support.

The event was attended by over 60 participants, including 18 members of the German Bundestag.
