On 20 May, des Ukrainian Institute hosted a public presentation at “Sens” Bookstore featuring new analytical studies of cultural landscapes and local contexts in Argentina, Mexico, and Brazil. The event gathered around Über 100 Teilnehmer –, including representatives of diplomatic institutions, the cultural sector, expert communities, civil society organisations, universities, and media.

Following the presentation, a panel discussion focused on Ukraine’s cultural presence in Latin America, the practical challenges of working across the region, and opportunities for future partnerships. Alina Rohach, Project manager of the Spain and Latin America Cooperation Program at the Transatlantic Dialogue Center, joined the discussion to share TDC’s perspective on building sustainable engagement with Latin American cultural and expert communities.

The panel brought together Oksana Dramaretska, Director of the Latin America and the Caribbean Department at Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador of Ukraine to Mexico (2020–2025), as well as writer Yurii Andrukhovych. The discussion was moderated by Alim Aliev, Deputy Director General of the Ukrainian Institute.

The conversation highlighted a key takeaway aligned with TDC’s work: meaningful cooperation in Latin America requires not generic assumptions, but a context-sensitive approach grounded in local networks, cultural ecosystems, and long-term relationship building.

TDC thanks the Ukrainian Institute for the invitation and for creating a platform for a substantive exchange on strengthening Ukraine’s cultural diplomacy and partnerships in the region.
