Dr. Bohdan Veselovskyi
Bohdan Veselovskyi is a Ukrainian legal scholar, a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in International Law, and a Non-Resident Fellow at the Transatlantic Dialogue Center. His professional work focuses on projects related to Ukraine’s European integration and cooperation with European partners, including engagement with EU institutions, national authorities, and analytical centers.
His professional activities are centered on advancing Ukraine–EU relations, with a particular emphasis on the legal and institutional aspects of European integration, the implementation of the EU–Ukraine Association Agreement, and interaction with key stakeholders in the governmental, academic, and expert communities. He advances this work through research, policy analysis, expert consultations, and participation in academic and public events.
His research interests include EU law (institutional law, external relations, and competition law), EU enlargement and the rule of law, Ukraine’s European integration, EU sanctions policy, international humanitarian law, international criminal law, and the interaction between international law and EU law in the context of armed conflict and human rights-based approaches in the post-war reconstruction.
Bohdan Veselovskyi regularly contributes expert analysis to Ukrainian media. He is a frequent commentator on Kyiv TV, Radio NV, Suspilne, and Hromadske Radio, and has taken part in live broadcasts of the national telethon (ICTV), as well as on the Espreso und Apostrof TV channels, providing expert insights on European integration, EU law, international law, and security-related issues.
In addition to his analytical and expert activities, he is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Comparative and European Law, where he teaches and conducts research in EU law and European integration. He has professional experience working with the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine und the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, particularly in the field of European integration and EU affairs, including monitoring and legal analysis of the implementation of the EU–Ukraine Association Agreement. He also cooperated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the EU Delegation to Ukraine, USAID, the Ukrainian Institute, and other Ukrainian and international institutions.
Bohdan’s professional career also includes leadership roles such as coordinating international projects for the Crimea Platform, where he worked on advocacy and research related to the Russian-occupied territories, and serving as Secretary of the Ukrainian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Bohdan’s dedication to advancing Ukraine’s institutional resilience and academic excellence underscores his commitment to shaping the country’s European future.
He is the author of more than 50 academic and applied publications, analytical articles, and media commentaries, and is a member of the Ukrainian Association of European Law.
He holds a PhD in International Law from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Institute of International Relations (2023), as well as Master’s (2019) and Bachelor’s (2017) degrees in International Law from the same institution.
