Bohdan Veselovskyi

Bohdan Veselovskyi ist ukrainischer Rechtswissenschaftler, Doktor der Philosophie (PhD) im Internationalen Recht und Externer Fellow beim Transatlantic Dialogue Center. Seine berufliche Arbeit konzentriert sich auf Projekte zur europäischen Integration der Ukraine und zur Zusammenarbeit mit europäischen Partnern, einschließlich des Engagements mit EU-Institutionen, nationalen Behörden und analytischen Zentren.

His professional activities are centered on advancing Ukraine–EU relations, with a particular emphasis on the legal and institutional aspects of European integration, the implementation of the EU–Ukraine Association Agreement, and interaction with key stakeholders in the governmental, academic, and expert communities. He advances this work through research, policy analysis, expert consultations, and participation in academic and public events.

His research interests include EU law (institutional law, external relations, and competition law), EU enlargement and the rule of law, Ukraine’s European integration, EU sanctions policy, international humanitarian law, international criminal law, and the interaction between international law and EU law in the context of armed conflict and human rights-based approaches in the post-war reconstruction.

Bohdan Veselovskyi trägt regelmäßig mit Expertenanalysen zu ukrainischen Medien bei. Er ist ein häufiger Kommentator bei Kyiv TV, Radio NV, Suspilne und Hromadske Radio und hat an Live-Sendungen des nationalen Telethons (ICTV) sowie bei den TV-Sendern Espreso und Apostrof TV teilgenommen, wo er Experteneinblicke zu europäischer Integration, EU-Recht, Völkerrecht und sicherheitsrelevanten Themen gab.

Neben seinen analytischen und fachlichen Tätigkeiten ist er derzeit Associate Professor am Lehrstuhl für Vergleichendes und Europäisches Recht, wo er im Bereich EU-Recht und europäische Integration lehrt und forscht. Er verfügt über Berufserfahrung im Justizministerium der Ukraine und in der Werchowna Rada der Ukraine, insbesondere im Bereich europäische Integration und EU-Angelegenheiten, einschließlich der Überwachung und rechtlichen Analyse der Umsetzung des EU-Ukraine-Assoziierungsabkommens. Zudem arbeitete er mit dem Außenministerium der Ukraine, der EU-Delegation in der Ukraine, USAID, dem Ukrainischen Institut sowie weiteren ukrainischen und internationalen Institutionen zusammen.

Bohdan’s professional career also includes leadership roles such as coordinating international projects for the Crimea Platform, where he worked on advocacy and research related to the Russian-occupied territories, and serving as Secretary of the Ukrainian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Bohdan’s dedication to advancing Ukraine’s institutional resilience and academic excellence underscores his commitment to shaping the country’s European future.

He is the author of more than 50 academic and applied publications, analytical articles, and media commentaries, and is a member of the Ukrainian Association of European Law.

Er promovierte in Internationalem Recht am Institut für Internationale Beziehungen der Nationalen Taras-Schewtschenko-Universität Kyjiw (2023) und erwarb an derselben Institution einen Master- (2019) sowie einen Bachelorabschluss (2017) in Internationalem Recht.
