TDC Expert on Radio Actualidad: Ceasefire Without Security Guarantees Would Only Delay Renewed Aggression

On March 17, 2025, Oleksandr Slyvchuk, Coordinator of the Spain and Latin America Cooperation Program, participated in a live interview on the U.S. radio station Actualidad Radio. The discussion with journalist Julio César Camacho focused on the current state of Russia’s war against Ukraine, the anticipated outcomes of recent U.S.–Russia talks, and the status of Western military assistance to Ukraine.

Slyvchuk addressed widespread speculation about potential U.S.-Russia discussions regarding Ukraine’s territorial integrity, NATO aspirations, and EU accession. He emphasized that Russia’s aim is not a ceasefire, but rather a prolonged war that may allow Moscow to extract concessions.

The conversation also touched on the state of U.S. military assistance to Ukraine. Slyvchuk confirmed that aid continues to flow through Poland, including critical defense systems and armored vehicles, but noted uncertainty about the long-term outlook. He underscored that Ukraine must strengthen its own defense capabilities, comparing its future security needs to those of Israel.
