Kyiv, February 5th – A delegation of Spanish security and strategy experts met with top officials from Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense to discuss pressing security challenges and avenues for enhanced international cooperation.
This visit was organized with the support of the European Union and the International Renaissance Foundation as part of the joint initiative European Renaissance of Ukraine.
The Spanish delegation comprised:
- Victor Mario Bados Nieto, Director of the Spanish Institute for Strategic Studies (IEEE)
- Ignacio Fuente Cobo, Senior Analyst at IEEE
- Manuel José Gazapo Lapayese, Director of Institutional Relations at UNIVERSAE and Director of the International Security Observatory
- Amín Lejarza de Bilbao Essalhi, Head of the Youth Section of Eurodefense Spain
During the meeting, the delegation engaged in high-level discussions with the leadership of the Department of Strategic Communications and Hennadiy Kovalenko, Head of the Department of International Defense Cooperation. The dialogue centered on Ukraine’s evolving defense strategy, the situation on the frontline, and the crucial role of European collaboration in strengthening the country’s resilience against ongoing aggression.
The Spanish delegation reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ukraine and stressed the importance of continued strategic dialogue to address emerging threats and bolster Ukraine’s resilience in the face of ongoing aggression.
