On October 6, a significant meeting took place at the Representation of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, bringing together Argentine Deputy Lilia Lemoine from the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of the Republic of Argentina and Argentine representative Ivan Dubois from the Parliament of the Southern Common Market (PARLASUR).
The visit was organized by the Transatlantic Dialogue Center and Resilient Ukraine.
The Permanent Representative of Ukraine in Crimea, Tamila Tasheva, together with the Director of the Crimean Platform Support Service, Mariia Tomak, engaged in discussions on Argentina’s and broader Latin American perspectives on the situation in Crimea. They also explored strategies to combat Russian propaganda, which extends beyond Ukraine and Europe, reaching other continents as well. A key focus was strengthening information cooperation between Ukraine and Argentina to counter misinformation about the Russian occupation of Crimea and Ukraine’s ongoing struggle for sovereignty.
Tamila Tasheva expressed deep appreciation to the Argentine delegation for their visit, support, and for Argentina’s participation in the Crimea Platform Summit. She shared insights on the work being done by the Representation in its efforts towards Crimea’s de-occupation and reintegration. This includes initiatives aimed at the cognitive de-occupation of the peninsula, along with highlighting the pressing challenges and needs faced in this process.
Tasheva also emphasized the ongoing repression of indigenous peoples in Crimea, pointing out that Russia’s actions today mirror those of 250 years ago, as they attempt to erase the historical truth that contradicts their claim of ancestral ownership of the region.
In turn, the Argentine representatives reiterated their firm support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and the restoration of Ukrainian sovereignty over the territories occupied by Russia.
