Vlasta Kovbasa
Vlasta Kovbasa is a Ukrainian specialist in International Relations and a Visiting Researcher at the Transatlantic Dialogue Center. Her research interests include international humanitarian law, international human rights law, emerging technologies, and security sector reform (SSR).
She currently serves as a Junior Project Officer at DCAF – the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance, working across Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus, with a particular focus on Ukraine. She previously completed internship at the Office of the Ukrainian Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, as well as at the IHL Lab of the Geneva Academy, where she applied open-source methodology to track and document violations of international humanitarian law.
Vlasta holds a Bachelor’s degree with honours in International Relations from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and has completed extensive training in Political Science at the University of Zurich. She is currently completing her Master’s degree at the Geneva Graduate Institute, specialising in Human Rights and Humanitarianism.
She is fluent in English, German, and Ukrainian, with a working knowledge of French.
