TDC Expert on Todo Noticias: Europe’s Shifting Security Landscape

On February 15, 2025, during a broadcast on Todo Noticias, an Argentine news channel, Oleksandr Slyvchuk, Coordinator of the Spain and Latin America Cooperation Program, offered an in-depth analysis of Europe’s evolving security dynamics amid the Russian-Ukrainian war. In the interview, Slyvchuk explained how Europe is undergoing tectonic shifts—driven by growing criticism and the urgent need for a more decisive role in continental security.

He noted that major European nations, including Germany, the United Kingdom, and France, increasingly view Russia as a common threat, emphasizing the importance of resisting Russian aggression without relying solely on the United States.

Regarding peace negotiations, Slyvchuk expressed skepticism about any near-term breakthroughs. Despite some analysts suggesting that talks could begin as early as this spring, he stressed that there is no clear indication from Moscow of a willingness to negotiate. Moreover, he underscored Ukraine’s uncompromising stance: relinquishing territory is not an option. “This war wasn’t fought over land, and any territorial concessions would only undermine Ukraine’s strength,” he asserted.
