During the advocacy visit to Mexico, the Transatlantic Dialogue Center (TDC) and the International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) delivered a series of university lectures and discussions in Mexico City and Puebla, engaging students and faculty on the global and humanitarian dimensions of Russia’s war against Ukraine.

On 5 March 2026, the delegation spoke at Universidad Panamericana (Mexico City) in a session moderated by Enrique Berruga, CEO of Aspen Institute México and a former Mexican diplomat. On 6 March, a second discussion took place at Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP) in San Andrés Cholula, moderated by Dr. Samuel A. Stone of UDLAP’s Department of International Relations and Political Science. On 10 March, Alina Rohach and Bohdana Batsko held a lecture at the Center for European Studies, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), where the delegation was welcomed by the Faculty Director Dr. Alejandro Chanona Burguete, alongside Secretary General Mtro. Dámaso Morales Ramírez and Secretary for Academic Development Dr. Erik Del Ángel Landeros, with the aim of establishing channels for future academic cooperation.

Across all three universities, the delegation delivered a unified presentation covering:

  • the global dimension of Russia’s war against Ukraine and why it matters beyond the region;
  • the war and the international order;
  • key drivers of the war and how Russia frames its aggression;
  • Russian disinformation and the narratives used to justify the invasion;
  • humanitarian consequences, including the abduction, illegal deportation, and forced transfer of Ukrainian children;
  • systematic human rights violations in Russia-occupied territories, including abductions, torture, illegal detention, and forced “passportization”;
  • peace negotiations and what a credible, peace-oriented process requires, including humanitarian safeguards.
  • The discussions featured Oleksandr Slyvchuk, Alina Rohach, Bohdana Batsko (TDC), and Olha Kvashuk (IRF), with Alina Rohach and Bohdana Batsko representing TDC at UNAM.
  • We also acknowledge the contribution of TDC interns Nataliia Kozhevnikova and Yuliia Stefanyk, who supported the visit’s analytical preparation during their internship at TDC.

This project was supported by the International Renaissance Foundation.
