On April 10, 2025, representatives of the Transatlantic Dialogue Center (TDC) and the Human Rights Center ZMINA held a meeting in Santiago with Hernán Bascuñán Jiménez, Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Chile Andrés Bello.
The discussion focused on the ongoing war in Ukraine, including prospects for a negotiated settlement, the role of the United States, and the legal and security conditions that currently prevent democratic elections. The conversation also shed light on the systematic nature of Russian disinformation campaigns and how the Kremlin continues to manipulate global audiences through false narratives, including in Latin America.
Both sides explored the possibility of future cooperation, including joint events and expert exchanges aimed at raising awareness of human rights issues and international security challenges. The meeting reaffirmed the value of dialogue and international engagement grounded in democratic principles and respect for international law.
