Maksym Volik

Maksym Volik – Junior Project Assistant of the Spain and Latin America Cooperation Program at the Transatlantic Dialogue Center. He supports the Program’s initiatives aimed at developing dialogue between Ukraine and the Spanish-speaking world, in particular through the preparation of informational and analytical materials, translation, monitoring of current developments, and organizational support for projects.
Within the Program, Maksym contributes to the preparation of weekly briefings and materials in Spanish, the adaptation of texts for Spanish-speaking audiences, open-source research, the technical formatting of publications, and internal coordination. His work combines analytical, translation, and communication components.
Research interests – security, domestic political, and foreign policy processes in Latin America, particularly in the countries of the Southern Cone and the Andean space. His interests also include Ukraine’s European integration, transatlantic relations, the EU’s strategic autonomy, European regional security, and Ukraine’s foreign policy.
In parallel, Maksym is a researcher in the Latin America program at the ADASTRA think tank, where he works on materials covering political processes, security challenges, and potential areas of cooperation between Ukraine and the countries of the region.
Maksym’s commentary has been featured, among others, by CNN Argentina (Argentina), Canal 26 (Argentina), Cadena SER (Spain), Todo Noticias (Argentina), and the program En Conexión with César Miguel Rondón (United States / Venezuela).
Before joining the Center, Maksym interned and was a scholarship holder at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Ukraine, where he worked with analytical materials, media monitoring, and research on international coverage of the Russia-Ukraine war. He also gained several months of volunteer experience at the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Peru, where he contributed to selected activities in the field of political analysis and Ukraine-Peru bilateral cooperation.
Recently, Maksym completed an internship at the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration in the expert group on the work of bilateral association bodies. During the internship, he worked with materials related to Ukraine’s European integration, the activities of Ukraine-EU association bodies, document processing, and the preparation of working analytical materials.
Maksym is a member of the Youth Council under the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, where he works in the Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation. In this capacity, he contributes to discussions on foreign policy initiatives, youth diplomacy, and the international engagement of Ukrainian youth.
Maksym received his bachelor’s degree with honors in International Relations, Social Communications and Regional Studies from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
He speaks Ukrainian, Spanish, and English.
