Stepan Rusyn, Coordinator of the German-Ukrainian Partnership Program at the Transatlantic Dialogue Center, appeared on TVP World (Poland’s English-language 24/7 news channel) to discuss Russia’s vulnerabilities in the war against Ukraine and the strategic risks currently facing Vladimir Putin.
In the interview, Rusyn addressed how Ukraine is seeking to take advantage of a narrow window of opportunity before Russia can fully adapt to changing battlefield and political conditions. He noted that Moscow’s ability to sustain the war still relies heavily on manpower and weapons production. However, its long-term resilience will also depend on how effectively Russia can adapt to Ukraine’s evolving military tactics and withstand continued pressure.
Rusyn noted that one of Putin’s greatest risks lies in underestimating Ukraine’s ability to innovate, coordinate with partners and strike at the weak points of Russia’s war machine. As the war continues, Ukraine’s strategy is increasingly focused on disrupting Russia’s capacity to regenerate forces, maintain logistics and preserve the perception of control.
He also underlined that this moment remains critical for Ukraine’s partners. Sustained military, political, and technological support can help Ukraine make the most of this window of opportunity, while delays or uncertainty may give Russia more time to adapt and restore its operational advantages.
