On April 3, 2025, the Transatlantic Dialogue Center and the Human Rights Center ZMINA took part in a roundtable discussion organized by the Argentine Council for International Relations (CARI) in Buenos Aires, as part of their visit to Latin America. The event was hosted by the Committee on Eurasian Affairs and brought together prominent voices from the academic, diplomatic, and media communities to discuss the current war in Ukraine and its international implications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session was opened by Ambassador Lila Rold\u00e1n V\u00e1zquez, Secretary General of CARI and Director of the Committee on Eurasian Studies. Key speakers included Oleksandr Slyvchuk, Coordinator of the Spain and Latin America Cooperation Program; Alina Rohach, Project manager of the Spain and Latin America Cooperation Program; Tetiana Zhukova, International Advocacy Manager at ZMINA; Tamara G. Quiroga, an Argentine lawyer and international relations expert; and James Gatica Matheson, a Chilean journalist based in Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the discussion, the Ukrainian representatives focused on Russia\u2019s ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine, underlining its devastating humanitarian toll and the geopolitical risks it poses to the international community. The delegation also explored the different scenarios that may unfold in the months ahead, depending on the positions of major international actors. A key part of the roundtable was dedicated to human rights violations committed by Russian forces in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The roundtable offered a meaningful space for reflection and exchange, enabling Argentine experts and opinion leaders to hear firsthand accounts from Ukrainian civil society. Participants reaffirmed the importance of international solidarity and the need for Latin America to play an active role in defending human rights, peace, and international law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
