The Transatlantic Dialogue Center (TDC) has launched the second edition of its remote internship program for Latin American students<\/strong>, developed within the framework of the Spanien- und Lateinamerika-Partnerschaftsprogramm<\/strong>. Building on the experience of the first cohort in 2025, this new edition brings together twelve students from Argentina, Chile, and Mexico for a three-month program running from late April to late July 2026. The program focuses on applied analytical work, international affairs research, and strategic communication around Ukraine and its place in a shifting global order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants represent a wide range of leading institutions across the region: Universidad Finis Terrae<\/strong> und Universidad de Concepci\u00f3n<\/strong> in Chile; Universidad Nacional de General San Mart\u00edn<\/strong> und Universidad del Salvador<\/strong> in Argentina; and Tec de Monterrey<\/strong> und Universidad Nacional Aut\u00f3noma de M\u00e9xico<\/strong> in Mexico. Their academic backgrounds span International Relations, Law, and Journalism, reflecting TDC’s commitment to bringing together interdisciplinary perspectives on the challenges facing Ukraine, Latin America, and the broader international system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For many of the participants, the internship represents a rare opportunity to engage with international affairs from a place where global events are unfolding in real time. As Isadora Pizarro<\/strong> (Universidad Finis Terrae, Chile) noted: “Ukraine is now a key case study for analysing geopolitics, security and communication in crisis situations, and I felt it was a very valuable opportunity to learn how strategic analysis is carried out in real time from the very place where events are unfolding.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Guillermo Mej\u00eda Cedillo<\/strong> (Universidad Nacional Aut\u00f3noma de M\u00e9xico) shared a similar sense of purpose: “I joined the internship at the TDC because I believe it is a great opportunity to broaden my perspective on international relations, exchange ideas, deepen my knowledge of Ukraine and contribute to international research and analysis.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The program was structured around two complementary tracks. The research track<\/strong> situated Ukraine within broader international debates, with interns conducting studies on the influence of political ideologies on perceptions of Ukraine in Latin America, China’s role in contemporary international conflicts, U.S. policy in the Middle East, and other topics related to Ukraine’s evolving geopolitical environment. This track was designed to give participants hands-on experience with the methodological standards and analytical rigor expected in policy-relevant work produced by a think tank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das communications track<\/strong> offered participants practical training in strategic communication in international affairs. It combined social media analysis and content planning, contributions to TDC’s communication strategy, and practical work in writing social media texts, drafting video scripts, video editing, visual design, and on-camera participation. The aim was to prepare young professionals who could not only analyze international dynamics but also translate them into content that reaches diverse audiences across the Spanish-speaking world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this second edition, TDC continues to consolidate a structured pipeline of young Latin American researchers and communicators who bring their regional experience and perspectives into transatlantic conversations about Ukraine, security, and the future of the international order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
