On May 7, 2024, the Universidad Abierta Interamericana hosted an event titled \u201cFake News: Channels, Disinformation and Narratives in Russia’s War Against Ukraine\u201d. The meeting, aimed at faculty, alumni and students of International Relations, Political Science, Law, Communications, as well as interested members of the public, was organized by TDC together with the Department of Political Science and International Relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TDC experts, Oleksandr Slyvchuk and Alina Rohach, spoke in detail about how Russia uses various channels to spread disinformation and influence public opinion in Latin America. Particular attention was paid to the key narratives that Russia is actively spreading about Ukraine and its war against Ukraine. This included not only political, but also social and cultural aspects that are used to create an information environment favorable to Russian interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students saw concrete examples of debunking Russian propaganda narratives. Experts demonstrated how to identify and analyze fake news, which allowed participants to better understand the mechanisms of disinformation. Practical cases allowed students to apply the knowledge gained in practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the most interesting parts of the lecture was the Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to ask questions to TDC analysts and discuss with them the current problems of Russian propaganda in Argentina. The lively discussion contributed to a deeper understanding of the issues and helped students realize the importance of combating disinformation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
